The Hightstown First Aid Squad, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable entity and is funded entirely by donations from both individuals and organizations. The Hightstown First Aid Squad, Inc. is know by Mercer County emergency agencies as Squad 141. Squad 141 is on of the longest standing First Aid Squad's in New Jersey dating back to 1935. In over 90 years Squad 141 has existed by maintaining a high level of competency and a community based approach without charging patients for any services rendered. Squad 141 primarily responds to 911 medical and traumatic emergencies. The squad also provides support for the Police Department and the Fire Department when needed. With a primary coverage area of Hightstown Borough and the New Jersey Turnpike, Squad 141 also provides mutual aid to neighboring communities including but not limited to East Windsor, Cranbury, Robbinsville and West Windsor.

TO OUR COMMUNITY

At any given moment, a person may require the need of their First Aid Squad (Squad). Once the call to 911 is made, it puts in operation the response of their local volunteer squad that is staffed by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s). Upon arrival, the EMT’s will provide the highest level of medical assistance, outside of a Hospital’s Emergency Department.

These professionals are made up of the men and women who take their position as an EMTs very seriously. They continue to train at their squads and attend classes, to maintain their skills and learn new techniques, so that they can provide their patient with the best care available.

However, our squad must have members to continue to provide care to those in need and without members, this becomes very hard to do. As such, the current membership of Hightstown First Aid Squad, is making their call to YOU, the citizens of the Borough of Hightstown and our surrounding community, to help us by joining our squad and becoming EMT’s.

Thank you,

What would happen if Hightstown First Aid no longer existed?

Currently the Borough of Hightstown has an agreement with Robbinsville Township Division of Fire for EMS coverage. This coverage is primarily provided during the day time hours when volunteer staffing is low. The current contract takes into account the pricing for partial coverage.  As such, the residents would endure a much greater financial burden to make up for difference in the absence of the Squad. Additionally, the Squad's central location in the Borough aids in maintaining prompt response times. The state recommends an average response time of less than 15 minutes. The Squad maintains an average response time in under 4 minutes, which is several times less than what is recommended by the state. During times of high call volume, and certain prolonged incidents, off duty Squad members are called in to provide additional staffing to limit the interruption of emergency care to the residents.
